BRIDE & GROOM COOKIES – WEDDING BAND

Brides and Grooms are usually the most difficult cookies to prepare given that hair and veils are hand-made, time-consuming. Eyes are another one! These ones are simpler however all customers prefer the one with eyes, hair etc.On the other hand, these are also the most ordered cookies in terms of amount, as they serve weddings. I spend quite much time baking and decorating bride-groom cookies, usually hundreds!

COOKIES FOR MGB METRO TEAM

Photo/Logo cookiesfor corporates are usually boring. This set went to the Purchasing Department of MGB, Metro; with concepts: ‘Customer is King’, and ‘Lions of Purchasing’

Summer has been nice; I have baked many cookiesbut not as many as I would do in winter. Simply because I was travelling almost every other week. I work as a professional but I had saved a lot of days of after giving birth. I mainly travelled in Turkey towards south and south west. Bodrum and Antalya.

Bodrum is my favorite destination for summer holiday, ever.Especially the Göltürkbükü district. Great and clean sea, it is cooler than Antalya but still very hot, nights are fun. Boat tours are arranged everywhere and it is more boutique style. All you get in Antalya is all inclusives, and that is the biggest mistake for me when selecting holiday hotels. At such big hotels you have to walk to get to the seaside and helloooo if you forgot something in the room.I am on holiday, it is hot and I have to walk tons! NO! Food is another thing. At boutique hotels, it is always best quality and served for you. All inclusives; you have to wait in queues at rush hours. A la Carte restaurants are also booked full time full days!

COOKIES FOR HENNA NIGHTS

The henna night is a special day for Turkish bride-to-be; some night similar to the bachelorette parties. Turkish bride-to-be get together with female friends and family members a couple of days before their wedding to celebrate.
There are many different traditions about dying hands with a piece of henna, but most interesting part is when everyone sings together to get the bride-to-be to cry. The folk songs sang together mention about mom’s and dad’s most beloved leaving her home. The dress is special for the girl: a red dress with a red veil – therefore the cookie in such design.
How henna dyes hand is as follows: it is kneaded with water, placed on a tray or special basket full of red veils-surrounded by candles…and brought to the room in company of the young girls attending the party. When it is time to dye the hand of bride-to-be, she usually does not open her hand until her mother-in-law places a piece of gold in her hand. Only after then the hand is opened and henna is placed in her palm.
After the henna ceremony, a party is held with music to enjoy.
Recently, henna nights have become traditional also in high society (it was popular in villages before)- I did give such a party, but I might have done it had I married these years. Just for fun.
